trump replace obamacare

trump replace obamacare

bernie sanders is back onceagain to defend social security and medicare and medicaid fromthe cuts that are almost certainly coming from the newgop-led congress, and this time he is bringing props. may 7, 2015, donald trumptweeted, quote, i was the first and only potential gop candidateto state there will be no cuts to social security, medicare, and medicaid. end of quote. on

april 8, 2015, mr. trump said, and i quote, every republican wants to do a big number onsocial security. that's not bernie sanders talking, that isdonald trump talking. they want to do it on medicare, they wantto do it on medicaid, and we can't do it. it's not fair tothe people that have been paying

in for years, and of quote. he starts off with a tweetfrom donald trump, he would have used a video of donald trump butdonald trump only communicates through 140 character chunksending with an exclamation point. but what does he wanttrump to do, now that those programs which are incrediblypopular and necessary to prop up some of the most vulnerablepeople in america, are under threat of being cut?

it seems to me that mr. trumpright now has got to do one of two things. number one, if allthat he was talking about was campaign rhetoric, then what heis obliged to do now is tell the american people, i was lying. isaid i would not support cuts to social security and medicare andmedicaid but i was lying, it was a campaign ruse, i just set itto get votes, i had no intention

of keeping my word. and ifthat's what he believes, if that's what the case was, lethim come forward and say that. but if that is not what the caseis, if he was sincere, but i would hope that tomorrow ormaybe today he could send out a tweet and tell his republicancolleagues to stop wasting their time, and all of our time. formr. trump to tell the american

people that he will veto anyproposal that cuts medicare, that cuts medicaid, and thatcuts social security. and what we are talking about right now,let us be clear, no debate, that is exactly what this goal is. that's what this budget proposalis. i always wonder where they goto print out these props. do they go to the local kinko's?

which is awesome, because if you are the kinko's associatehelping bernie sanders, that would be sweet. the guy who had to carry thatthrough the house chamber said that ted cruz walked by andlooked at it and just chuckled. that is funny. i like thatsecond video because bernie outlines the one of two optionsthat trump has, but in reality we know how things work fortrump.

he doesn't actually have to do either one of thosethings, he doesn't have to admit he lied and he also can go aheadand support cutting social security, medicare, andmedicaid. and look, i think there will be politicalramifications to doing that, because there are certainmembers of the electorate that did confuse someone like donaldtrump as someone who is similar to bernie sanders.

obviouslythey are very different because bernie sanders is genuine whenit comes to these issues, donald trump represented himself as anantiestablishment candidate but we now know, and we knew duringthe election, to be honest with you, that he is verypro-establishment. look at his cabinet picks, right? so whoknows how this will go down, but i'm curious to see what thereaction of the electorate will

be should republicans do awaywith these programs that they actually love and support. and they could potentially getdamaged quite a bit. those are popular programs, not justamongst big libs or democratic voters, republicans love themtoo, and they especially love them when they actuallyacknowledge that they are receiving money from thosefunds. some republicans seem to

think it's different for otherpeople. if they are taking welfare it's fine for them, notfor other people. obviously i'm glad to see bernie sandersdoing this, doing what's necessary to get some of themedia to pay attention to it. i like the idea at least thatwith the election over he's not fading back into thedarkness, he's continuing to campaign against donaldtrump.

i think it's so incrediblyimportant for someone like bernie sanders to hold donaldtrump's feet to the fire, to hold members of congressaccountable for their actions, and it's not because i disagreewith republicans -- i do -- but i also have a huge problem withdemocrats. democrats right now are fundamentally weak, theytuck tail, they allow republicans to strip them oftheir power, they allow republicans to do pretty muchwhatever they want, they will

concede because they are weakand because they have the same corporate interests behind thescenes that are playing a huge role, and so seeing someone likebernie sanders be as vocal and outspoken as he has been so faris relieving. we will see how it goes, we will see how much of animpact it has, but bernie sanders, senator warren, i feellike those are the few key players we can rely on toactually do good things in congress.

my prediction is that trumpwill not do either of those two things that bernie sanders askedhim to do, hopefully bernie sanders will continue to presshim to do one of those two. i think what he will do is what healways does. despite the fact that he has this unearnedreputation of being a straight talker and an alpha male, he isgoing to barrage us over the next few months with a bunch ofmushy, garbled, vague nonsense

that could be interpreted asbeing pro or against social security, for or against cuts, and if they end up cutting it he will have enough in his tweetsthat will make it look like i was trying to get them not to doit but the party went for it. and if the end there is enoughpopular activism that they stop the cuts from going through, hewill be able to point to one of his 10,000 tweets from the pastmonth to say i was kind of against it then, and cnn willgive him a ton of credit as if he was against the cuts in thefirst place.

that's the thing with him just barraging us withtweets all day long. he gets away with a lot ofthings, think about the fact that he was supposed to hold apress conference regarding potential conflict of interestduring his presidency, he was supposed to hold that pressconference weeks ago, in december, and just decided tocancel it. now he is saying he will have this press conferencelater on this month, but who

knows what he's going to do? hewas able to just get away with canceling what i would argue isan incredibly important press conference where he's going totell the american people what he plans to do with his businesseswhile he is the commander-in-chief of the unitedstates. and so he seems to get away with everything. in myprediction is that he will

continue to get away witheverything until americans start really feeling the impact ofwhat his presidency is going to be like. once they see that theprograms they love so much are getting attacked by the gop, once they notice that, hey, the president you keep pointing tois the individual who has divided our country is actuallynot the person who divided the country, it's the type ofrhetoric you hear from someone like donald trump, we will seewhat happens.

i have hope that americans are a little smarterthan what we've experienced during the election. we'll see. i'm glad youbrought up the canceled meeting, that just happened, on friday heannounced i know things about whether there was hacking or notthat no one in the intelligence community knows, which islaughable, and i'll reveal it in a press conference wednesday.

hedidn't. and i trust him, i believe him at his word, heknows something that no one in the intelligence communityknows, and yet no press conference. weird. think about all the thingsthat president obama was rightfully criticized for, issues involving transparency. he campaigned on transparency, was not transparent enough. know

this guy, donald trump, won'teven hold a press conference, he only communicates throughtwitter. he has an active snapchat, tobe fair. does he? no. hopefully bernie sanderscan stop these cuts from coming, we were worried that obama mightokay cuts to medicaid and medicare, we got through thoseyears without it happening, but you can't rest on your laurels, you have to be vigilant because

as soon as they pass theirmassive tax cuts that will devastate the federal budget andthere will be continuing, growing pressure to cut everyprogressive priority and sacred cow you can imagine. so no matter what happens, evenif we stop him right now, you cannot relax, the fight hasto continue.
